Most skin care programs add oils to dry skin, and alcohol or other drying agents to oily skin. Both dry and oily skin types need moisture – not oils or drying alcohols. When you apply oily products to dry skin, your skin sends a message to the brain that it needs to slow down your body’s natural oil production. It becomes a vicious cycle; the more oil you apply, the more dry your skin becomes. Likewise, applying drying alcohol products to oily skin sends a message to the brain that the skin needs more oil, and the cycles continue.
